If you’re brand new to Pinterest and feeling totally overwhelmed by what to pin, how often to do it, or even where to start… take a deep breath. I’ve been there.
When I first started Growing Up Kemper, I was just sharing home projects I loved and hoping someone out there would find them helpful. But once I figured out how to truly use Pinterest as a traffic driver—not just a place I went to save recipes and ideas for future projects–I saw my blog go from getting a few views here and there to bringing in thousands of clicks every single month from my content.
That’s why I created my course, How to 25x Your Traffic and Make More Money with Already-Created Content—to teach other bloggers, creators, and entrepreneurs how to do exactly that. But before we get to 25x-ing anything, let’s talk about how to simply get started.
Because I promise: Pinterest isn’t too complicated. And it’s never too late to start.
Pinterest is more than just a place to find pretty kitchen remodels or dinner ideas (although I love those too). It’s a visual search engine. That means people come to Pinterest with intent. They’re planning, dreaming, researching—and looking for solutions.
If you create content that solves problems or inspires action—DIYs, how-tos, tips, fashion ideas, recipes, photography, lifestyle—you’re in the perfect spot to grow.
Even if you’re just getting started, a business account gives you access to Pinterest Analytics and Pin performance data—which is gold when you’re learning what works.
How to set up your account:
This tells Pinterest your site is legit and allows you to track all content pinned from your domain.
You’ll also get access to rich Pins, which automatically pull in your blog title, recipe details, or product info for a more professional look.
If you’re on WordPress, you can do this easily with a plugin like Pinterest for WordPress or through your theme settings.
Think of your boards as SEO-friendly categories for your blog content. This helps Pinterest understand what your account is about and helps your audience find what they’re looking for.
Examples of Pinterest boards:
Add keyword-rich board titles and descriptions—skip the cute names and stick to searchable phrases.
This is where the magic happens! You don’t need to be a designer to make beautiful Pins. I use Canva for all of mine, and you can grab my free templates in my Freebies tab!
Each Pin should include:
Then, link your Pin directly to your blog post, freebie, LTK, Storefront, or landing page.
Want a real-life example? Check out this pin I just created on a front porch DIY I did one year ago today. Doesn’t make this content any less valuable!
Pinterest isn’t about pinning hundreds of times a day. It’s about steady, consistent activity.
Here’s a beginner-friendly schedule:
In my course, I show you how to batch create 30+ Pins in one sitting—so you can focus on creating more of what you love.
After a few weeks, head to your Pinterest Analytics and see:
Pinterest is a slow-burn platform, but the payoff is long-lasting. Some of my best traffic-driving Pins are from blog posts I wrote years ago.
If you’re looking around at your current content and thinking, “I can’t create more from scratch right now,” here’s the best part: you don’t have to.
Inside my course, How to 25x Your Traffic and Make More Money with Already-Created Content, I show you how to take what you’ve already published and turn it into Pinterest content that brings in new traffic on autopilot.
From repurposing blog posts into multiple Pin styles to automating your Pinning schedule and monetizing with intention—I break it all down step by step.
You don’t need to go viral. You just need to get started.
One Pin. One board. One blog post at a time. Your content deserves to be seen—and Pinterest is the key to making that happen.
You’ve got this—and I’m cheering you on every step of the way.
